Yes that time is here again for all of us to hermit in our little corners, drink our extra caffeinated coffees and hope that our professors take mercy on us. While all that is going on, BUGS will have special office hours. Keep in mind that due to construction the office has moved to McMed 905. Stop by and chat with us or Christine Laberge or really any one else who is there. You can pick up BIOC 312, or BIOC 212 NTC. You can also drop by to purchase Chem 214 NTCs which are awesome!

300D2 Tutorial

Office hours and the good stuff

Hey everyone, sadly there is no news yet on when the BIOC clothing will arrive but it should be super soon. If those of you who received an email about the discontinued clothing could get back to use, we can get you everything faster! Also please note that both December 2nd and 3rd will be running on a Monday schedule and our office hours will be doing the same. Lastly, because of exam period we will be holding special office hours for those who need to pick up the last set of NTCs or buy NTCs or eventually pick up the BIOC clothing. The following hours will being as of December 4th. Good luck on exams, stay happy, healthy, and remember (and I'm quoting a terrible movie here but) we're all in this together!

Last year we had an awesome time and this year it is going to be even better because the games are hosted here in our home town MOONNTTREEAALLL, maybe it will give us an upper hand! So what are these famous biochem games? Well each year biochem departments all around Canada (should they choose the challenge gather to compete in sports and other events to prove they are the best of the best. If you would like to help kick some biochem butt drop by the office to sign up by Friday November 1st, The event takes place Janurary 3rd - 5th and it cost $110 dollars including a bunch of meals (all of Saturday's meals).

Once you're all gone and graduated, how do you remember the awesome times you had at McGill in Biochem? Or if you aren't graduating how can you show off how smart you are for majoring in something super difficult? With Biochem Gear...DUH!! Well lucky for you our fall catalog is out! The catalog and the forms can be found under the forms tab up at the top. Remember the forms are due in the office on Friday November 1st so don't forget to grab yours. Oh and they are supposed to be here before exams, which make them the perfect study wear


Research Awareness Day (RAD)

Interested in Biochemistry Research at McGill? Wanna chat and have lunch with professors? Well then, Research Awareness Day is the event to go to!
On Saturday, Sept 21st, the Biochemistry Department is holding an event that will include short talk by professors, and presentations by Undergraduates on How to get into Research. Lunch will be provided, and this is the perfect opportunity to meet with Professors and find out about the research that takes place in our Department. BUGS Winter Clothing Sale

The BUGS Winter Clothing Sale has begun! New items on our catalogue include a "flip-up" beanie, a tri-blend cardigan, and a women's racerback tank top! Undergraduate Poster Day

January 9th, 2013

For those of you interested in research opportunities in the future, poster presentations will be a regular part of your Academic life. As such, BUGS is hosting a UNDERGRADUATE POSTER DAY on January 28th for Biochemistry and IHI undergrads to do a poster presentation on any research they have done in a lab either as part of an honors research course OR through any other experience working with a prof or graduate student.

Right now, we're looking for students such as yourself to create a poster and present their research. There will be a cash reward for the two best presentations (although the true reward lies in the experience you have making the poster)! For anyone interested in presenting, please sign up using the link below before Wednesday January 16th.

Chalet in the Woods

Hope everyone has enjoyed their (all too short) time off! Just a reminder that anyone interested in attending the BIOCHEMISTRY CHALET IN THE WOODS trip on January 18th-20th should bring their 45$ in ASAP. There are still some spots open but they are expected to fill up fast. DEADLINE for money to reserve your spot is FRIDAY JANUARY 11th. To remind you, this includes your transportation and two-night stay in a giant chalet with a crazy number of fun activities to fill your days with. For more details, check out the facebook group! Post-Midterm SHARX Attack

Academic Opportunity - BUGS Academic Committee

Are you interested in improving the academic environment of the department? Starting this year, an academic committee will exist to plan and execute academic events with the Director of Academic Affairs. 2-3 motivated students are invited to participate in organizing of BUMP, parsing student feedback on courses, and holding GAs. 1-2 students are also invited to become the new Editors of the SDS-PAGE. U2's: 300D Tutorial on Monday

October 12th, 2012

For those in 300D: There will be a tutorial on writing Lab Reports during the normal lecture period on Monday, October 15th, 3:30-5PM in McIntyre 504. This tutorial, run by seasoned U3 students, will individually cover each section of the report, as well as how to search for and read papers, how to easily cite references, and how to process results. Now that you've had the chance to write one lab report, feel free to come armed with any particular questions or points that you'd also like to know more about.

Charity Month-Fright Night
