Paper write-up is a nice change of pace from normal evaluations. Good selection of topics to write about.
Very interesting material covered: RNA therapeutics, aging, etc.
Long answer questions over memorization.

Exams felt long and took nearly the whole time.
One section is purely memorization and only T/F on the final.

Very useful if you want to pursue research in the cancer field, since it covers main pathways/genes involved in cancer.
Dr. Dankort is a great instructor!
Exams are very detail-oriented.
Lots of True/False questions that you need to be able to do quickly.

BIOC470: Lipids and Lipoproteins in Disease

BIOC503: Biochemistry of Immune Diseases
3 credits
Logical continuation of MIMM211/214/324.
Small class so you really get to know and learn from classmates.
40 min presentation is a good practice for future in academia settings.
In-depth understanding of research in a specific area of immune diseases.
Each lecture is one student presentation (40 min) can get a little dry.
Daunting to prepare such a presentation, especially since its heavily weighted.

5% participation in end-of-semester discussion

MIMM324: Fundamental Virology
3 credits
In-depth course about every single possible virus family.
Material can be repetitive since each class is learning a new virus type inside-out (structure, mechanism, disease, etc.) which makes it easier to learn since the same topics come back.
a LOT of content, hard to determine exactly what is most important.
Final had some randomly specific questions.
Both midterm and final mutliple-choice.
